The Intestinal Flora Is Involved In Weight Gain
Searchers of Washington University have shown that a reduced intestinal flora could be part of the weigh gain process.
They noticed that rats which have been trapped under a sterile atmosphere (without flora) were putting on weight whereas those whose intestinal flora had been maintained at a normal level had kept their weight at the same level.
This study shows that intestinal flora is involved in the regulation of the fatty part of the body.
It could explain why aging is a weight gain factor since the quantity of the intestinal flora decreases with the aging process.
According to this American article, it should be possible to reduce the weight of over-weight persons (especially seniors) by optimizing the work of their intestinal flora.
The right solution could be to supplement food with natural fermented products as well as living bifidobacterias.
